THIS CLASS WILL BE HELD IN-PERSON AND ONLINE. ATTENDEES HAVE THE OPTION OF:
- 12-HR CONTINUING EDUCATION:
- COMPLETING 12 HOURS IN-PERSON OR VIA ZOOM (TUESDAY AND HALF OF WEDNESDAY) OR
- COMPLETING 12 HOURS OF ONLINE SELF-PACED STUDY ON TORCH UNIVERSITY (SELF-PACED CBT)
- 24-HR MANAGER'S COURSE:
- ATTENDING THE 24-HOUR CLASS IN-PERSON OR VIA ZOOM.
- ATTENDING THE 8-HOUR REGULATIONS CLASS EITHER IN-PERSON OR VIA WEBINAR (ZOOM) (ON WEDNESDAY), PLUS COMPLETING 16 HOURS OF ONLINE SELF-PACED STUDY ON TORCH UNIVERSITY (SELF-PACED CBT)

SESSION INFORMATION
TORCH offers Certified Assisted Living Management courses in three different sessions. To see which sessions you might need to meet a certification requirement, see our Certifications page.

Additionally, we offer a Startup Boot Camp training for new owners and managers, covering the basics of getting a new facility established.
ASSISTED LIVING MANAGER COURSES: SESSION CONTENTS
REGULATIONS SESSION
— 8-hour training on the Texas licensing standards. This course includes updates and proposed changes to the licensing standards. Legislative changes are also covered.
CONTINUING EDUCATION SESSION
— 12-hour continuing education training on management of assisted living facilities. This course covers the State’s required content for management training. Participants may choose to complete the first 12 hours of the live training (either in-person or via Zoom), or may choose 12 hours of training from the course catalog on TORCH University at a discounted rate. These topics may include: resident characteristics (including dementia), resident assessment and skills working with residents; basic principles of management; food and nutrition services; federal laws, with an emphasis on the Americans with Disabilities Act’s accessibility requirements; community resources; ethics, and financial management.
FULL 24-HOUR MANAGER TRAINING SESSION
— 24-hour administrator's training on management of assisted living facilities. This course covers the State’s required content for management training. This course includes the 8-hour session above (Option 1), plus an additional 16 hours of self-paced training on TORCH University. Self-paced training topics may include: financial topics (budgeting, long-term-care insurance), fair housing, policies and procedures, fall prevention, dementia, elder law, food and nutrition, marketing, compassion fatigue and caregiver health topics, RN Delegation, HHSC LTC topics, Life Safety Code, and licensing information. |

OPTION 2 FULL MANAGER'S COURSE
(OPTION 1, PLUS 16 HOURS OF ONLINE SELF-PACED STUDY = 24 HOURS)
Choose this option to complete the required 24-hour manager's course. ou have the option to attend the full class in-person or via Zoom, or to attend the live class on day 2 (in-person or via Zoom) for 8 hours of Regulations training, plus an additional 16 hours of self-paced online courses, to be completed within a 30-day time period through TORCH University. |

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
CLASS HOURS:
Login (via Zoom) or sign-in (in-person) between 7:30 AM - 8:00 AM(Central Time)
Classes: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Central Time) if attending 12-hour session, attend all day Tuesday and 8:00 to noon on Wednesday
Self-paced study hours to be completed on TORCH University.
REFUNDS AND CANCELLATIONS
TORCH does not refund course payments or fees of any kind. If the event is cancelled, or if the registrant must cancel, any registration fees paid are credited to the registrant's account, minus any applicable cancellation fees, and may be applied to another scheduled seminar, conference, storefront purchase, or other billable item. Payment is due with the registration. (Attendees must be present for the entire session to receive their certificate.)
STUDENT STANDARDS
TORCH reserves the right to refuse to issue a certificate when an attendee does not satisfactorily complete the course. This may include such reasons as failure to attend the entire session; or failure to comprehend the course content, based upon a written test, when a test is given.

All payments are final. We do not provide refunds for membership signups and renewals, event registrations, donations, storefront purchases, or other misc. charges. If you cancel an event registration, the amount paid will be credited to your account for future use by the member registered, less any applicable cancellation fees.
